What population do you serve?
Tremploy provides services to adults who have an intellectual disability as their primary diagnosis.
Are there any age restrictions?
All services at Tremploy are available to applicants who are between to the ages of 18 and 65 and who have an intellectual disability as their primary diagnosis.
Are there prerequisite skills in order to participate in your program or service?
Although there are no prerequisites skills required for admission to Tremploy, some programs may require skills to promote effective participation. Programs and services can be developed and modified for each individual to best suite their specific needs.
What level of independence is required for the consumers who participate in your program?
Although a person’s independence may be considered in the type of program that they receive, it is not a factor when determining acceptance into Tremploy. Acceptance is not determined by a person’s independence, or lack there of; as our programs and services are designed to enhance the levels of independence already achieved, as well as assisting in developing new ones.
Do you serve people with multiple challenges? (Physical limitations, wheel chair, vision or hearing impaired)
We at Tremploy serve not only those who have an intellectual disability but also those who have an intellectual disability with other challenges including physical.
Can people with challenging behaviors be served in your program?
For the most part Tremploy is open to those individuals with challenging behaviors. Although safety for other clients and staff is a priority, a decision would be based on an assessment and an evaluation to determine whether or not our services are suitable for the individual.
What is the ratio of staff to consumers? Is it possible to provide 1:1 assistance when needed?
Our staff to client ratios vary from program to program and are dependent on the ability as well as the type or program chosen by the individual. Currently our clientele are accessing services at a 1:2, 1:3, 1:5, and 1:7 ratios. 1:1 ratios may also be arranged if the need arises.
What type of training does your staff receive regarding people with special needs?
Qualifications of staff working with clientele range from certified completion of the Human Services Program, or equivalent education and experience.
Is there a cost to families? How do they apply?
Although in most cases families secure funding through the Disability Support Program, there are some individual cases where families or care- givers have taken on that responsibility themselves. The cost of service is determined by the individual’s program, of which staff to clientele ratios as well as number of hours requested are also contributing factors.
The family and or caregiver can contact the Development Officer at Tremploy, Inc. at 902-892-5338 to arrange a meeting to discuss services offered by Tremploy, Inc.
Tremploy staff will complete an assessment to ascertain the applicant’s abilities such as taking direction, coping skills, stamina, strength, dexterity, etc.. When the assessment is completed our staff will prepare an Individual Service Plan based on the assessment. The ISP proposal will be presented to the family for consideration. If they wish to proceed we will forward the proposal to Disability Support Services for authorization.
